Then when you have a chance to be with them, in person, you could request joining them in their favorite thing to do.

Also when they make a mistake, talk to them about how could we maybe do it differently the next time. Instead of always saying no ( my grandchildren are 2 and 1) Let them know something could break or something is not safe and redirect them to something else.
