In 1621, to thank God for his Divine provision, the Christian pilgrims shared a feast with their neighbors from the Wampanoag tribe. This celebration followed a difficult year when nearly half the passengers of the Mayflower died. Despite their losses, the remaining pilgrims thanked God for his leading and provision. They believed they’d been called to serve Him in this new land.
This is a true story that inspired our Thanksgiving holiday. Sadly, our grandkids are being taught a twisted and disturbing version of these historical events. But we can help our grandkids understand and celebrate their Christian heritage by telling them the real reason. We give thanks to the Almighty God.
