I love how you are making this your own, great idea about journaling!

I should do the same for them. Giving them a list of what I see as the gifts and strengths that the Lord has provided for them would give them a boost of encouragement in this world of challenges.
A Pastor gave me the idea of writing a diary for each of them. Each has personal stories about them. I think I’ll write about their strengths in each of their diaries and send them a copy. Thanks!

These are such GOOD reminders to look for the good ESPECIALLY while focusing on scriptural truths and on godly character qualities. Thank you for giving us practical examples of how to express “the good” to our grandchildren.

Too many of us grew up in homes in which we received little or no affirmation, whether out of parental/grandparental laziness or busyness (not taking the time to intentionally think of what could be affirmed), or general grumpiness, or out of a desire to keep their children humble. ALL of us can benefit from taking a few minutes to think of what qualities we can affirm in people around us, including our grandchildren, children, spouses, and others. I want to imitate God, who affirms His children throughout scripture, and Jesus, who models affirmation for us, too.

And so essential when we look at the children around us. I volunteer at a children’s ministry as a resident “grand-friend” in their programs in the public school. I am going to take this “see the good” into that part of my life too.

I also could pertain a few to myself as well! Keep up the good work–we love you!!
