I once heard someone call the younger generation, the cut flower generation. It’s a tragic metaphor because flowers cannot bloom without roots to feed them. Jay Kessler, a world renowned expert on teens explained that many kids lack a strong connection to their roots. In fact many have never been around older people and know little or nothing of their family history and the myriad of stories that come with it.
Hey, kids love to hear stories. So tell them your story and talk about raising their moms and dads. You know, the good stuff as well as the hard stuff. You have an important role. Help your grandkids develop deep roots that will strengthen them as they grow.
