Intentional Christian Grandparenting

A STARTER KIT FOR CHURCH MINISTRY

STEP 2

Develop a Grandparenting Prayer Team

Developing a Prayer Team is absolutely essential to establishing a spiritual foundation for the ministry. Their support will uplift grandparents in their Biblical role. Here are some steps to help you develop a Prayer Team:

  1. Understand your vision: Clearly understand the purpose and goals of your grandparenting prayer ministry. Determine how prayer will play a central role in supporting grandparents and their families. This will help you effectively communicate your vision to potential prayer team members.
  2. Recruit prayer team members: Spread the word about your prayer team through announcements during church services, bulletin boards, newsletters, and personal invitations. Emphasize the importance of prayer and the specific needs of grandparents within the ministry. Look for individuals who have a heart for prayer and a passion for supporting families.
  3. Establish regular prayer meetings: Set up regular prayer meetings for the team to come together and pray specifically for the grandparenting ministry. These meetings can be held weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on the availability of the team members. The meetings can take place in person or over Zoom. Ensure that the meetings are focused, purposeful, and include times of worship, sharing, and praying together.
  4. Provide prayer requests and updates: Keep the prayer team informed about specific prayer requests from grandparents and their families. Regularly update them on any progress or answered prayers.
  5. Foster a supportive community: Prayer will foster a supportive and caring community in which team members can share their own prayer needs and experiences. This sense of community will deepen their commitment and encourage them in their prayer journey.
  6. Evaluate and adapt: Periodically evaluate the logistics of your prayer meetings and consider different prayer models.

Remember, the foundation of any prayer team is a genuine desire to seek God’s guidance and support through prayer. By establishing a prayer team for your grandparenting ministry, you are creating a powerful network of intercessors who can make a significant impact in the lives of grandparents, their families, and generations to come.
