STEP 5
Assemble Core Team
Any new ministry needs a group of people who are committed to its purpose and mission and willing to lead. Those who serve on the Intentional Christian Grandparent Core Team should believe in the need for grandparents to be equipped in their church; they should have a passion to activate and energize others. Potential Core Team members are often found among those who have already heard God’s grandparenting truths in a conference or series like Grandparenting Matters.
Core Team Plan
- Schedule how often you want to meet.
- Include prayer throughout your planning time.
- Discover skills that each team member brings to the table: administrative, marketing, hospitality, facilitator, etc.
- To invite grandparent engagement, work with church staff to develop a communication plan using effective methods: Sunday morning, mail, flyers, email, text, web presence, etc.
- We recommend the Core Team create a one-year ministry plan.
- Team members will have the option to step off after one year.
- Legacy Coalition staff and volunteers are available to provide support at no cost to the church.
